We did not use the aphabet convention to name our first few litters. In fact, Lord Munster came from our second litter, out of Sugar who had a litter of 16 pups and raised all of them! This litter and Lord Munster represented a major development for Benbaron inasmuch as he was the kind of dog we decided to adopt as the prototype for our future breeding program. At this time most Canadian breeders breed rough to rough; good smooth dogs were rarely found. His sire was the smooth specialty winner, Ch Echo's Citation Von Bonus, who in turn was sired by the smooth Sanctuary Woods Extra Bonus. From Sanctuary Woods to Echo to Benbaron was a pattern which would be continued over the decades. Munster was an elegant dog, a powerful athlete, and a keen stud. He became our first specialty winner when he took the Best Of Breed at the St Bernard Club of Ontario show.
