One of the first breeders to use Yondo at stud was Shirley Slaton (Wolf). She brought her Harlow Jean to us when we lived in Dunrobin, Ontario. Jean was a very sound, feminine bitch with lots of Sanctuary Woods in her background. She produced a wonderful litter with seven champions. In the above photo she is winning Brood Bitch at the 1989 Tennessee National under Horst Vogel. From left to right are champions: Jean, Justin Credible, Just Between Friends, Jondo, Jalna, and Jacks. Jean holds the bitch record as the top producer of AKC champions in breed history.

This impressive girl is Can Am Ch Slaton's Jalna Von Yondo. She was owned by the late Jean Chretien of Ottawa. She finished with several specialty majors as did most of her littermates.

And this is one of her smooth brothers, Jacks, owned by the Slaton kennels. Another brother, Jondo, went to Japan where he became a Best In Show dog. The rough brother, Justin Credible, was the top show Saint in the USA one year. Not too shabby!

Our favorite of them all, however, was Juno. She took her time maturing but when she did - WOW! Here she is going BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX from the Veteran's Class under Judge Ken Nelson 1995 National. Just look at that powerful body and outline! To our eye, such a girl would not be seen again until fifteen years later when her half-sister Taboo took BEST OF BREED at the 2010 National.

Every breeder hopes to produce a litter like this at least once in their career. Shirley followed this up by breeding Harlow Jean to the Yondo son, Am Can Ch Benbaron's Abraham Von Yondo. Out of this litter came Ch Slaton's Piece Of The Action. "Sport" broke the record for All-Breed Best In Shows! Well done indeed.
