This handsome lad is Am Ch Mahogany's Gallant Spirit V Charley, better known as Sanji. Owned and bred by Deb Denis of Mahogany Run Kennels, he finished the spring of 2014 in fine style, winning three group placements. He is yet another of the wonderful offspring of Charley and Ch Benbaron's Veronica of Eddie HF PE. Indeed, he has the look of his mother who has been a big producer for Deb and her husband, Bruno.

This is Ethan with his proud owner, Ranjit Menon, in India. Ethan is 3 in this photo and has been enjoying a very successful show career, far from his birthplace in Hungary. Ethan is a great-grandson of our Iceman and looks a lot like the Iceman sons, Outlaw and Dakota.

Ethan has a beautiful head and an overall sense of elegance.

Its nice to know that the Subcontinent is home to dogs such as Ethan.

Dec 2012 - Luanne Palmer reports that her lovely rough girl, Amy, has completed her AKC championship and helped put her mother, Ch Benbaron's Veronica Of Eddie, into the SBCA Hall of Fame.

Amy has a solid topline, correct angles both front and rear, an impressive stop and rich coloring.

Her breeders, Deb and Bruno Denis of Mahogany Run kennels, had great luck breeding Veronica to their big rough Charlie. They did it twice and Amy already has a number of champion siblings with more on the way. It will be fun to see what this generation of young champions produce in turn.

Here is another "blast from the past" in the form of Am Can Ch Banyon's Casper Brown. At this SBC of New Jersey specialty, a much younger Ken Buxton is putting up Casper for Best of Breed. He is being handled by owner, Ellen Santora, and Bunny Hymen is holding the trophies. Casper lived in New York and won a number of big Northeastern specialties in those days. As shown in the pedigree below, he went back mainly to the Stanridge and Beau Chevel kennels of the 60's and 70's. Both of those kennels were known for their shorthaired Saints. He was bred by the late Jim Zellen, Banyon Kennels. Students of pedigrees will note that he was inbred on Thor, the first dog to win a National for the Opdyke Kennel.

We saw Casper in the flesh a number of times and he always impressed us as a substantial, masculine fellow who would do anything for his mistress, Ellen. We were informed by a recent email from Ellen that she had to give up the breeding of Saints at the end of the 80's because her husband developed severe allergies. Such is life but she still loves a good Saint! (see more for pedigree)

This handsome chap, handled here by Marty Glover, is Am Ch Kings Row Icon, bred and owned by Shirley and Skee Tsagris of the Kings Row kennel outside of Sacramento, CA. The Tsagris's go back in the breed as long as we do and over the decades have produced dozens of champions and specialty winners. We have a special affection for Icon because he is a son of the very successful Ch Benbaron's Outlaw of Iceman. We sent Outlaw to King Row as a pup and not only did he go on to be a Top Ten Saint nationally, but he sired some outstanding dogs. In addition to Icon, Outlaw produced Ch Skydancer Anne Bonney (Top Bitch) , Ch Skydrancer Great Pirate Robert, and Ch Skydancer Mary Read. (see more)

Yvonne was the litter sister of Younice and as you can see, she had more length of leg. Yvonne had her moment of glory winning a 5 point major at a trailer show at the San Diego National back in 1991. She was owned and shown by Stan and Joan Zielinski. We were her co-breeders and in fact, she was born at our kennel near Ottawa, Ontario. The Stoan kennel had it roots in Bea Knight's Sanctuary Woods so the Stoan and Benbaron pedigrees matched up nicely.
